„… ich möchte fast reflexhaft antworten, dass mich wirklich alles an Malerei interessiert. Das umfasst auch die Frage, was das überhaupt ist: die Malerei und dann auch konkreter. Das Bild. Da gibt es vielleicht einen Ansatzpunkt, den ich genauer benennen kann: Mich beschäftigt ein Verhältnis, nämlich das von Motiv und dem Gebilde, das dieses in die Welt stellt, dem Motivträger.“

„Es gibt Maler, die sagen, dass ihnen die Motive unwichtig sind und diese nur Anlässe zum Malen sind, Gerüste oder Gefäße, um die Kunst anzubringen oder hineinzulegen, und ich schließe mich dem gerne an. Aber es ist eben doch auch so, dass das Motiv das „Gesicht“ des Bildes ist. Es ist diese unauflösbare Verbindung, die mich verrückt macht, die ich aufregend und geheimnisvoll finde.“

“… I would like to answer almost intuitively that I am interested in basically everything about painting. This includes the question about what painting even is and more concrete: what is the image?  There is probably one approach I can mention: I am interested in the relationship between the motif and the construction that gives it an actual place in this world, the image carrier. There are painters who say that motifs are not important, as they are only the inducement to paint, scaffolding or vessels to apply art or to put it in and I agree with that. On the other hand the motif is the face of an image. It is his inextricably connection which maddens me that I find exiting and mysterious at the same time.“
