Sigmund de Jong

Mit Präzision und Sensibilität schafft Sigmund de Jong in seiner malerischen Arbeit eine Auseinandersetzung mit dem architektonischen Raum. Dabei geht er spezifisch auf den räumlichen Kontext ein, reflektiert diesen mit seinen großflächigen und monochromen Arbeiten aber nicht nur, sondern strukturiert die Umgebung neu. Oftmals direkt auf die Wände gemalt, existieren seine Werke nur für begrenzte Zeit – was bleibt, sind Fotos und Präsentationen wie diese Zwischenlandung.

With precision and sensibility Sigmund de Jong creates in his work a dialogue between painting and architectural space. He specifically deals with the spatial context and reflects those with large monochrome formats, but not only that, he also invents a new structure for the surroundings. Often painted directly onto the walls, the existences of his artworks can only be seen for a limited amount of time. What remains are photos and presentations such as „Zwischenlandung“.
